I grew up in the small town of Agency, IA. During my high school time with youth at church, under the leadership of Joseph Perkins, I committed my life to full-time vocational ministry. After graduating with a Masters of Divinity (Cum Laude) from Baptist Bible Graduate School of Theology (Springfield, MO) in 2004, Tina and I moved to Massachusetts (where she grew up) to seek God’s will for that vocational ministry. I continued to be a part of Fellowship Church as a volunteer and bi-vocational minister until a full time vocational minister at FCHolden in 2009 to Oct. 2010 when I left to enter a new season of ministry.
During my college years in MO, I worked my way up in a Supermarket chain for 7 years in management finishing as a store co-manager before moving to MA. During my bi-vocational years in MA, I worked in construction getting my hands wet in many different fields.
I’m married to a beautiful and busy woman named Tina who started her own successful photography business, tinablumer.com
We have two sons, ages 8 (biological) and 4 (adopted) and was involved in foster care through the state of MA.
According to Strengths Finder, my strengths are:
- Restorative – being adept at dealing with problems. Good at figuring out what is wrong and resolving it.
- Consistency – having faith in the links between all things. Believe there are few coincidences and that almost every event has a reason.
- Connectedness – keenly aware of the need to treat people the same. Try to treat everyone in the world with consistency by setting up clear rules and adhering to them.
- Learner – having a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, is exciting.
- Intellection – being introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.
And according to Forgotten Ways’ APEST test, my spiritual gifts are:
- Evangelistic + Apostolic - The Evangelist Apostle is primarily concerned about mobilizing committed people. The EA views expansion occurring through highly committed and motivated individuals. The EA is not afraid to move them, believing the right people will engage along the way. A classic recruiter, the relationships of the EA are built around his/her sense of cause. The overarching motivation of the Evangelist Apostle is to get people involved and then make sense of where they should be in the organization.
- Teaching - The genius of Teaching leadership is their ability to reveal and communicate the wisdom of God. In a leader, he or she can be seen as a systematizer, seeking to organize various intellectual and practical parts into a working unity. The Teacher leader impacts the community through understanding.
My desire is to see Christians become motivated, inspired, and challenged to live a life whole-heartily for God. I desire to see people fall in love with God of the Bible and to love His Word.
Outside of all that I like computers, reading, doing anything graphically, and learning how to be better at those things. I would love for you to connect with me on twitter and facebook. Links are below.
