While on vacation, my wife and I drove around just getting pictures of some pretty cool looking old churches. Suddenly we noticed that we weren’t having to drive very far before another church was literally around the corner.
One of the things that strikes me about America is that in most towns and cities there are plenty of choices when it comes to churches and places of worship. And if you don’t like what you’re looking for, just wait a little bit and a new church is about to be planted in your area. There are plenty of positives and negatives about having so many churches.
Here is a map of churches available to the 28,000 people in this town:
What do you think of when you see this?

This is my wife's photography. She captures amazing photos. She loves what she does and takes pride in every shot. Check her work out at
I think that this is indicative of some of the things that being a 20th century American does to us. We have this shopping mentality which tells us that we will be whole if we can only find the right product; we have this consumer mentality that tells us that the real question is "what can this product do for me?"; we have this nomad mentality that says when things get tough we should just wander along to the next place; we've decided that geographical cures work and are better than working through our issues.
