I’m a Jerk

When I was a young manager of a supermarket, I was a angry jerk.  But I produced results for the company.  I helped increase the profit margin by 20%.  I knew what it took to get a job done.  But I highly lacked personal skills to go to beyond the customer care, “hi, how are you?” For the short term, this style worked fine.

As I work in the church realm as an executive pastor, these tendencies still exist.  In fact, I was called a “holy Jerk” this week by someone on staff.  It was meant in a kind way.

Sometimes, boldness for Christ comes across as being a jerk.  We stand for the right reasons and stand for the right cause, but our approach is something that needs some personal skill development.

Do you need to be more of a jerk or less of one?
