I don’t know about you, but putting up a Christmas Tree and lights have had it’s bad moments. I mean, I like putting up the tree, but that’s about it. I love to watch people put up the lights and I love seeing Christmas decorations all done up. I love drinking holiday drinks. I even enjoy the Christmas music playing in the background.
The thing about putting up the lights and hanging the decorations it that you often have to put them just right on the tree or something doesn’t look quite right, etc. Not to mention getting the lights untangled from last year. You know what I’m talking about. Often times, there’s this love for the end result, but not for the process.
Peace and Happiness does the same thing sometimes. We envision this idea of peace or happiness or pleasure or security, but we know we don’t have it just right yet. We can move stuff around and around and try to make it work, but it never seems quite right. Sometimes we have to embrace the process to see the reward. Other times we have to not mess with greatness for the pursuit of perfection, because that’s when we mess it up more. Sometimes we just have to sit back and say “yeah, that’s good” and other times we just need to ask other people to come in and finish it off.
It’s either that or we become the scrooge that doesn’t care about having any Christmas light up because there’s not enough of peace and happiness during the whole ordeal.
This is my wife's photography. She captures amazing photos. She loves what she does and takes pride in every shot. Check her work out at
New domain? sweet.
Totally understand the work principle. Sometimes though, especially with Christmas decorations, the serendipitous moments are there waiting for you to recognize them. Perfect is often in the process.
It could be an age thing. The more Christmases i experience, the more i see perfection in each unique placement of a treasured stroke of tradition.
