Reading and Wii Fit

Last Christmas, we received the Wii Fit game.  Last New Years started my resolution of hitting the gym with a buddy of mine.

Wii Fit didn’t last long for me.  Maybe it wasn’t my cup of tea?  Hitting the gym was good for about 7 months, then…well, it’s nearly 2011, so we’ll just leave it at that.

This had me thinking about me and ministry in 2010.  It was a wild ride none the less and the ride hasn’t stopped.  One of those wild ones where you feel sick and think you need to get off at the next stop kind. And so 2010 has been like working out on the Wii Fit.  I mean, I was working hard and staying focused and balanced and even felt tired (which is a sign of doing the right thing, right?…no pain, no gain).  But I have to wonder how much of that was just me running in place? Was I really going anywhere? And do you have to go anywhere to make it count? And should I settle for Wii Fit fitness or run a marathon in the wild outdoors like others around me?

Tonight, I had twittered how I just received “Sun Stand Still” by Steven Furtick for Christmas.  It’s one of those books of chancing your dreams kind of things and believing in God to do what only He can do.  I have another similar book called “In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day” by Mark Batterson waiting to be read as well. The problem with this is that this past year I’ve already read “Holy Discontent” by Bill Hybels, “Forgotten God” by Francis Chan, “Christian Atheist” by Craig Groeschel, “Wild Goose Chase” by Mark Batterson and a big portion of the “HOLY BIBLE” by God Himself.  I’ve done a lot of reading and have been really motivated to push forward like never before, especially after my summer vacation this year…and I’ve tired to do whatever I can with excellence, working hard…

But the question I’m processing now is whether I’ve been running and feeling tired because I’m going somewhere…or am I just running in place…just keeping busy?

How do you decide which it is?
