Slow Down and Back It Up

Communication is not always easy.  Communication between men and women can sometimes seem impossible.  I had to laugh inside yesterday during a reading of the Easter story because of how the NIV translates Luke 24:11:  “But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.”

Ever felt like that? Can I get an amen? Often times, what we actually communicate out loud has either been processing in our minds for some time and we forget the other person hasn’t had this background dialogue or we blurt things out without processing them ourselves.

Sometimes we just need to slow down and back up the conversation to let someone really understand where we’re coming from.
