that's not that I feel that way about Christmas parties (I like them very much), it's seeing the craziness people place on themselves to have everything perfect for these parties (not really thinking about these church parties. Asking people to host parties and letting them so "no" or "yes" and having other people partner together to throw a great party and inviting the people one wants at the party is different than the parties I am referencing to). I think that throwing a Christmas party because thats just something you're suppose to do, doesn't help. We had 7 christmas parties last year, both family and church. This years church parties I really feel are, at least were meant to be, different. Thats why I think its okay for the student group and life groups not to have yankee swaps because it lessens that "have to" that takes away from a purposeful excitement.

I just think that if Christmas brings the spirit of chaos and stress, we're not concentrating on the right thing. It's ok not to have everything perfect, not to get everyone everything they wanted, not to have ham and sweet potato if you want chinese take-out, not to buy that $5 gift because there's a party to go to at work or church or.... am I making sense?

If that is the way you feel about Christmas parties... why are you asking people from the church to host them?
